Il luogo era un piccolo bar all'angolo della strada
La cameriera stava spazzando il pavimento
Due camionisti stavano bevendo il loro caffé
Due bambini figli di operai sul'uscio
"Quanto costano le caramelle?" Loro hanno chiesto
"Voi quanti soldi avete?" Lei ha risposto
"Abbiamo solo un centesimo in due"
"Costano un centesimo ogni due" ha mentito
E la luce del giorno è diventata tetra di tuoni
E di odore di pioggia portata dal vento
E non proprio benevolo
Ecco di nuovo l'arcobaleno
Uno dei camionisti si è rivolto alla cameriera
Dopo che i bambini erano andati via
"Le caramelle non vengono due per un centesimo"
"E a te cosa importa?" gli ha risposto
In silenzio hanno finito di bere il loro caffé
Poi si sono alzati e hanno salutato
Lei li ha chiamati "Hey, avete lasciato troppi soldi"
"E a te cosa importa?" Hanno risposto
E la luce del giorno è diventata tetra di tuoni
E di odore di pioggia portata dal vento
E non proprio benevolo

The scene was a small roadside cafe
The waitress was sweeping the floor
Two truckdrivers drinking their coffee
Two Okie kids by the door
"How much are them candies?" they asked her
"How much have you got ?" she replied
"We've only a penny between us"
"Them's two for a penny" she lied
And the daylight grew heavy with thunder
With the smell of the rain on the wind
Ain't it just like a human
Here comes that rainbow again
One truck driver called to the waitress
After the kids went outside
"Them candies ain't two for a penny"
"So what's it to you" she replied
In silence they finished their coffee
And got up and nodded goodbye
She called "Hey, you left too much money"
"So what's it to you" they replied
